Alchera Abracadabra ~ Abby....

3 weeks

Abby was born beautiful!

She was named at the moment of her birth.  Black as ink with perfect full white trim and a nose that was filling in by 3 days old - she was magical...

Right from the start this little girl was the answer to my prayers for a flashy black tri show girl - the best of her father and mother in one loving little package.

As she grew it became more obvious that she was really a very special girl.

Abby @ 4 days old... And @ 3 weeks old...

Not only was she loaded with "pretty" she was also very correct and her personality was absolutely charming - she was definitely the "pick" puppy.

Because I wanted a blue girl as my pick puppy and had promised "second pick" I felt honour bound to let her go in order to keep my word - alas for making promises....

So at 3 months old off she went to her new home on a co-ownership.  At that time she weighed in at a respectable 20 pounds,  a ½ pound more than her sister PJ.

At 5 months old we managed to buy her back (For almost twice what we sold her for - her purchase price + "expenses" like food and handling classes!!) and she weighed in at a shocking 33 pounds, a full 5 pounds less than her sister PJ.

6 weeks old & practicing to be a show dog...

We were told that she wasn't eating well but can't help but wonder why because she hasn't missed a meal since she came home.  So she put on a fair bit of weight in the first month she was back - a whole 5 pounds - and at 6 months was only 2 pounds less than sister PJ.!!  By 7 months her weight (and weight gain) was in line with her littermates...

She had no undercoat to speak of so we sure do know what "buck naked" looks like on Abby!!  But what hair she has is still inky black (no running copper on this girl), very good texture and her adult coat will be lovely and straight.

My biggest concern is about what the improper vaccinations might have done to her immune system.  She was given her last immunization - including lepto!!! - and her rabies vaccination ON THE SAME DAY - and all 6 days before she was even 4 months old!!!

Happy (and grubby) but no longer a "bone bag" @ 7 months
So Abby has been a "work in progress"  but she made her ring debut in September '08 - picked up 3 points - and promptly blew all her coat!  She should finish easily in the spring when she has her hair again - Abby naked is not a pretty sight.

She's a lovely moving bitch and very athletic, and her temperament is wonderful.  She's very loving and totally devoted - everyone who meets her just loves her!  She's smart, outgoing and virtually "bomb proof" like her mother and she's a huge  "grinner".

Some candid photos of Abby ~ and more coming soon...
